What to look for
- A small rectangular camera head on a slim pole, usually 8 to 15 feet up
- Often a solar panel above it and a battery box on the pole
- Angled at traffic, not down the road: neighbourhood entrances, arterial junctions, the one road in and out
- Frequently on private poles at the edge of a development rather than city infrastructure
They are deliberately unremarkable. That is a design choice.

Documenting one
Photograph it from the public right of way: a sidewalk, a verge, the roadside. Note the cross streets and which way it faces. You do not need to go onto private property, and you should not.
A caution
A map is for public understanding and for informing a council debate. It is not a target list. If a mapped location turns into a damaged camera, the map stops being a civic tool and becomes evidence.
